Parent-School Collaboration

The Parents Association was established in September 1980, being the first Association formed by parents of disabled children. With the founding Principal of the JFKC, Dr Marion Fang・s support and encouragement, parents came together with their enthusiasm and concerns for disabled children・s welfare. In the past 20 years, the Parents・ Association arranged many fund-raising events to subsidize the purchases of children・s rehabilitation aids. The Association also organized overseas trips for the families with disabled children so as to enrich children・s lives and experiences.

In July 1997, the Parents・ Association evolved into the Parents, Teachers and Staff Association (PTA) as a registered non-profit making organization. It brings parents and staff together so as to achieve a more harmonious liaison between parents and school.

The parent representatives are nominated and elected by all the parents in our School. The school representatives are appointed by the school Principal and represent the staff of different departments.

The PTA and The John F. Kennedy Centre have been working in great partnership during the past 10 years. The PTA encourages parents・ participation in sports day, subsidizes lunch and drinks in school events, organizes new parents orientation and computer classes for parents in collaboration with school staff.

Many JFK parents provide support to our School through the PTA. They also provide direct service to our students through the Parent Volunteer Scheme so as to enhance the learning process of the children.
